we've been there and love it also. its very hard to get a site. 5 minutes away is one of our favorite places its a county campground called shagwon. its beach camping, no hook ups totally dry camping, but you are 20' from the water. isunrise and sunsets are perfect. ts on east lake drive past the small airport. welcome to the forum.
 
 
edit: i just noticed you posted some links. for some reason they are'nt working. if look on the home page of the first link www.lirv.com thats me in the floppy hat. a good friend of mine runs that web site and post all our camping pictures and videos.

I visited Hither Hills State Park, in Montauk, NY and I was really impressed.  The campground borders the beach and the campsites have ocean views!  We even played bocci on the beach!
