Topic: Blazing Star RV park, San Antonio Posted: 22 Jul 2010 at 11:01am |
I did somewhat of a search on here and didnt find anything about this particular park so I thought I would share.
We stayed there earlier this month. Really nice park, especially if you have kids. Nice pool, indoor arcade, small store. FREE shuttle to Sea World (that saved $15 parking). Very close to a Wal Mart.
I would suggest paying for the pricier pads, the lower priced ones are at the rear and from what I saw occupied by 'long term' rvs. These had a little more "stuff" around the outside of their trailer.
Just my two cents....

What side of San Antonio is this park? We're visiting the son and family in September, and they live in Converse, just east of town. Is it far enough off the highway to lose the noise? Thanks

hey rick, the park is actually on the west side of SA. i just mapquested it and it shows 30 miles from converse. Yes it is off the highway enough. Its kinda odd, its heavily treed very secluded but surrouned by several housing subdivisions. Like someone may have had some old family land they held onto forever then did this with it.
Check out their website if you get a chance.
thanks

We're currently staying at the Hill Country RV Park on the west side of New Braunfels. Nice park, right on I-35, but far enough away from the noise. Nice facilities. We're only here for one night, just thought I'd throw out another alternative spot.

Here is a good site for finding RV parks in Texas. You can also join for free and get a card for 10% to 15% discounts on daily rates. We have used ours often.

Thanks folks for the info. We stayed at Stone Creek last time in SAT and am hoping to find a quieter place next time. I'll look into both of these.

Keith, They have those books and membership cards in the books at your welcome centers. Picked up one when I came through last month, hope to use it once more in the next ten days

We live almost exactly 2-1/2 miles west of Blazing Star. It is very nice. Located right close by is the Admiralty RV Resort on the OTHER side of Sea World. Bosth are first class. Located a few miles away on FM 1971, Potranco Road is Tejas Valley RV Resort. All three of these places are close to restaurants, shopping and in safe neighborhoods. We are about a mile from Tejas Valley.

My family and I took our 32qb on its maiden voyage to the Blazing Star. We had a great time and stayed right across the street from the pool. We stayed in a premium lot that had over 25ft of tree covered yard space. I was able to set up a hammock and a BBQ pit along with chairs and have plenty of room to spare without anyone bothering me or vice versa. The place is about 12 miles from our house and we will be making return visits to the place for quick get-a-ways. The pool is heated in the winter so the kids will have a blast. After looking at other rv parks within 50 miles of our home, the Blazing Star is hard to top.

Another place you might want to try sometime is Buckhorn Lake Resort just outside Kerrville. We will be there between Christmas and New Years and will be attending their New Years Eve party. We go there a couple of times a year.
